‘Ae Watan Mere Watan’, starring Sara Ali Khan, is now streaming on Prime Video. The film narrates the story of Usha Mehra, a freedom fighter who established an underground radio station during the Quit India Movement.

Following the release of the film, netizens took to social media to share the reviews. While some felt that the film did justice to Usha Mehta’s story, others felt slightly let down by the film.

Rating the film, 3.5 out of 5, a user wrote that the film’s story is excellent and Sara and Emraan Hashmi do justice to their roles as freedom fighters.

Another user wrote that every leader should promote this biopic film.

The third user wrote, ‘Year 2024 begins with bang for EMRAAN HASHMI. back to back outstanding performances in span of just 15 day. first in showtime and now in #AeWatanMereWatan  Congratulations @emraanhashmi on another Masterclass acting display. VERSATILE ABHINETA’.

Some users criticized Sara Ali Khan’s portrayal as Usha Mehta.

A netizen wrote, ‘#SaraAliKhan is a terrible actor. What a waste of precious screen space she is, that she continues churning out one bad performance after another and still gets new films.’

Another wrote, ‘#AeWatanMereWatan is a feeble attempt at highlighting the story of an unsung hero. Barring a credible supporting cast, I could not get over the artificial looking sets & dim lit frames. It lacks emotional resonance & the curios case of Sara’s inconsistent performances continues.’

About ‘Ae Watan Mere Watan’

Directed by Kannan Iyer and written by Kannan Iyer and Darab Farooqui, ‘Ae Watan Mere Watan’ was produced by Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra. The film depicts the story of Usha Mehra (portrayed by Sara Ali Khan), a freedom fighter who launched an underground radio station to uphold the spirit of the Quit India Movement. With Congress leaders imprisoned and local radio broadcasting banned, Usha's initiative was crucial. The movie also features Abhay Verma, Sparsh Shrivastav, and Emraan Hashmi in key roles. Despite attempting to provide a modern perspective on Usha's struggle, ‘Ae Watan Mere Watan’ ultimately falls short.
