The release date for ‘Khel Khel Mein’, featuring Akshay Kumar, Taapsee Pannu, Ammy Virk, Aditya Seal, Pragya Jaiswal, and Fardeen Khan, has been moved up. Originally slated for a September release, the multi-starrer will hit cinemas on Independence Day, August 15th.

Sharing the news on X, the official handle of T-Series posted: ‘This Independence Day, step into a mad world of laughter, drama and loads of fun! Mark your calendars for August 15, 2024 when #KhelKhelMein hits the theatres.’

About the film

Directed by Mudassar Aziz, this comedy-drama promises a perfect mix of humor and emotion. The film will also feature Akshay reuniting with his Bell Bottom (2021) co-star Vaani Kapoor, as well as his Naam Shabana (2017) and Mission Mangal (2019) co-star Taapsee Pannu. Co-produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Vipul D Shah, Ashwin Varde, Rajesh Bahl, Shashikant Sinha, and Ajay Rai, Khel Khel Mein aims to redefine the comedy-drama genre, offering a rollercoaster of emotions that goes beyond the ordinary.

Notably, this means the film will clash with Allu Arjun’s highly anticipated movie, ‘Pushpa 2’, and John Abraham’s ‘Vedaa’, at the box office.

Earlier this year, T-Series took to social media to announce that ‘Pushpa 2’ would be released on August 15. The company captioned its post as, ‘Let the #PushpaMassJaathara begin (explosion emoji) The Most Awaited #Pushpa2TheRuleTeaser out on April 8th (love and fire emojis). He is coming with double the fire (fire emojis) #Pushpa2TheRule Grand Release Worldwide on 15th Aug 2024.’

However, reports suggest that the audience may have to wait longer to see ‘Pushpa 2’ on the big screen. According to Telugu 360, the shoot for ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’ was initially expected to conclude by June, but now the team needs an additional month to wrap up. Director Sukumar has redesigned some portions of the film and plans to reshoot them.
