Actor Ali Fazal has signed yet another Hollywood project. He will be playing one of the leads in Oscar-winning director Bill Guttentag's film, ‘Afghan Dreamers’. The film, which recently went on the floors, will be shot across Budapest and Morocco.
‘Afghan Dreamers’ will be based on the inspiring story of all-girls robotics team from Afghanistan. It was founded by an Afghan tech entrepreneur, Roya Mahboob. The team of Afghan girls travelled across the world and participated in competitions. They garnered worldwide recognition and even met leading politicians.
The role of Roya Mahboob will reportedly be played by Nikohl Boosheri.
Ali Fazal has expressed his excitement over signing the next Hollywood film. ‘Excited and humbled to be sharing notes and being directed by Bill, who has an impeccable body of work. Afghan Dreamers is a very important story to be told and I’m happy to be part of its cinematic retelling,’ India Today quoted him as saying.
Bill Guttentag has won an Oscar for his two short films – ‘You Don’t Have to Die’ and ‘Twin Towers’.
On the work front, Ali Fazal will next be seen in Vishal Bhardwaj's ‘Khufiya’ alongside Tabu. It will stream on Netflix later this year. Ali will also be seen in the Hollywood film ‘Kandahar’ with Gerard Butler. The Ric Roman Waugh-directorial is slated for release in 2023.
