After months of speculation surrounding Alia Bhatt's involvement in the YRF Spy Universe, CEO Akshaye Widhani of Yash Raj Films has officially confirmed this significant development during FICCI Frames.

In response to persistent inquiries about a new development within the YRF Spy Universe, Akshaye shared, ‘I’ll share the worst-kept secret in the industry, which is, Alia Bhatt is headlining a Spy Universe film, and the schedule starts later this year. But talking about this spy universe, we are just so thrilled and excited about having this IP in the studio.’

Alia Bhatt is set to commence filming for the project later this year, where she will join Sharvari Wagh in an action-packed entertainer. Both actors will portray super agents in the film.

Akshaye Widhani sees YRF Spy Universe as a significant financial and cultural force, expressing pride in it as a prized intellectual property.

‘As one of the most prized IPs, we take a lot of pride in it. So there’s a lot of stuff that’s going to come in the spy universe. We’re going to see more and more films getting made under it. But, of course, not going to share everything here. We will talk about it at a more opportune time. For now, I can say that Alia Bhatt is headlining a spy universe film,’ said Akshaye.

The YRF Spy Universe began with Salman Khan's ‘Ek Tha Tiger,’ followed by ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ and ‘War’ featuring Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff. It expanded with ‘Pathaan,’ starring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, and John Abraham, and ‘Tiger 3’ with Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif. The franchise's next installment is ‘War 2,’ directed by Ayan Mukerji and starring Hrithik, Jr NTR, and Kiara Advani.
