Anil Kapoor opened up on rift with brother Boney Kapoor weeks after the producer revealed that the actor wasn’t speaking to him due to disappointment over not being cast in ‘No Entry 2’.
While promoting ‘Bigg Boss OTT’s upcoming season, Anil was asked about the situation and he tried to deflect the question by calling it a ‘family matter.’
When asked if he was still upset with Boney, he told DNA, ‘Ghar ki baat hai, ghar mein rehne do. Use kya discuss karna (It’s a personal matter, why should we discuss it)?’
When Anil was told that Boney’s statement was reported widely, he said, ‘Haan toh koi nahi. Aage badho (It’s okay. We should move on).’
When prodded further, he said, ‘Dekho ghar ki baat ko kya discuss karna (Look, what is there to discuss about family matters). And, he (Boney) is never wrong.’
The rift between the Kapoor brothers began when Boney decided not to cast Anil in the ‘No Entry’ sequel and did not inform him privately.
The sequel, ‘No Entry 2’, now stars Diljit Dosanjh, Varun Dhawan, and Arjun Kapoor, with Anees Bazmee directing. Boney shared with Zoom, ‘Before I could tell my brother Anil about the No Entry sequel and the cast involved, he got angry as the news was already leaked. It was unfortunate that it was leaked. I know he wanted to be a part of the No Entry sequel, but there was no space. I wanted to explain why I did what I did.’
In a later interview with News 18 Showsha, Boney mentioned that he and Anil weren’t speaking. He added, ‘I love him too dearly, I just can’t do anything to hurt him. This is something professional, so I have to follow the diktat of the director, who calls the shots.’
