Anil Kapoor, whose career spans over 4 decades in the industry, is embarking on a new chapter. He will be seen as the host of 'Bigg Boss' OTT 3. At the show’s press conference, Kapoor explained his decision to venture into reality television despite his thriving Bollywood career.
'I am at the stage of my career where I want to do something I have never done before. I have done non-fiction in a way, in a film called Slumdog Millionaire, which was a global success. I have done films, OTT, and TV, and this was one thing I had not done, so thought why not try it? I am excited and very happy to do it.' Kapoor shared.
Reflecting on his resilient journey, he emphasised, 'Anything can happen in life, you should be ready. You should never be scared of failures, if I had been scared, I would not have been around for 45 years.' Addressing potential controversies on the dramatic show, he asserted,' The biggest of stalwarts have hosted Bigg Boss in the past, and they have only gained more respect after the show. It is on you, how to handle those controversies, there are times when someone comes into that kind of a situation that it has to be the true scent of the show and of yourself too. So it depends from person to person.'
Known for pushing boundaries, Kapoor recalled his unconventional roles in TV series like '24' and 'The Night Manager', showcasing his versatility beyond the big screen. 'I’ve never shied away from risks. Even in '24', I challenged perceptions of being a film actor,' he added.
When asked about hypothetical participation on the show, Kapoor humorously mentioned about having Kapil Sharma and Salman Khan as co-contestants, with Amitabh Bachchan as host. Amid anticipation for the June 21 premiere on Jio Cinema premium, the only confirmed contestant as of now is the Vada Pav girl, Chandrika Gera Dixit
Last season's winner Munawar Faruqui hosted the press conference in Mumbai on June 18.
