Rumors about Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s marriage have been swirling, but a fresh on-screen reunion could be the perfect way for the couple to silence the chatter. Filmmaker Mani Ratnam is reportedly planning a new Hindi film starring the iconic duo, and fans are already buzzing with excitement.

The couple's relationship began in 2000 on the set of Dhai Akshar Prem Ke and blossomed over the years through films like Kuch Naa Kaho and Dhoom 2. It wasn’t until they worked together on Guru that their relationship took a romantic turn.

Later, the pair reunited for Raavan (2010), but now it seems Ratnam has a compelling new project in mind for them.

According to a TimesNow.com report, the filmmaker has finally found a compelling story to reunite the Bachchan duo for a third film.

This would be Abhishek’s fourth film with Ratnam, following Yuva (2004).

Their love story began on the sets of the movie Dhai Akshar Prem Ke in 2000, where they first met. Over the years, they worked together in films like Kuch Naa Kaho and Dhoom 2, building a close friendship. But it wasn't until they worked on Mani Ratnam's Guru that their relationship took a romantic turn.18 Sept 2024

Reflecting on their close bond, Abhishek once shared, ‘When Mani came to our home to sign me for Yuva, I thought he was there to sign Pa (father Amitabh Bachchan). When I found out it was me, I was beyond ecstatic. Any actor would be thrilled to work with Mani, and I’m proud that he’s chosen me three times.’

Despite the occasional buzz about problems in their marriage, Abhishek and Aishwarya have remained a united front. In 2014, when divorce rumours made the rounds, Abhishek humorously dismissed them with a tweet: ‘Ok, so I believe I’m getting divorced. Thanks for letting me know! Will you let me know when I’m getting remarried too?’

If this new film with Ratnam goes ahead, it will not only be a career milestone for the Bachchans but also a treat for their fans, reigniting the magic they first created together on screen.

With their solid bond and electric on-screen presence, the couple’s reunion in a Mani Ratnam film is something audiences will undoubtedly look forward to.
