Netflix unveiled the trailer for its crime drama ‘Bhakshak,’ starring Bhumi Pednekar, on January 31. The film, directed by Pulkit, follows investigative journalist Vaishali Singh on a mission to expose a powerful man and politicians exploiting girls in an orphanage.

Claimed to be inspired by true events, the trailer showcases Vaishali's fight for justice, assisted by Sanjay Mishra, against Aditya Srivastava's character, Bansi Sahu.

The narrative aims to shed light on societal silence towards crimes against women as towards the end, Bhumi’s Vaishali asks, ‘Have you forgotten to feel the pain of others? Do you still call yourself a human being or do you feel you are a ‘Bhakshak’ (predator).’

The trailer was shared with the tagline, ‘Today’s top story is brought to you by Vaishali Singh! The fight for justice has begun #Bhakshak a film inspired by true events.’

Shah Rukh Khan also shared the trailer of ‘Bhashak; which is backed by Gauri Khan. He wrote, ‘A story of resilience that needs to be told. #Bhakshak a film inspired by true events, releasing on 9th February, only on Netflix!’

Sharing her experience of being a part of the film, Bhumi Pednekar said, ‘This has been a profound experience and I am very grateful for scripts like ‘Bhakshak’ and characters like Vaishali Singh that have the courage to tell these powerful narratives. I truly believe in the transformative potential of storytelling, and I am committed to choosing roles that not only push boundaries, and break stereotypes, but also ignite discussions that pave the way for meaningful change.’

She also called ‘Bhakshak’ ‘an important film.’

Reflecting on his film, director Pulkit stated, ‘This story is deeply personal to me, and shaping the journey of an investigative journalist in her pursuit of justice and truth has been an incredibly enriching experience as a director.’

Bhakshak, also starring Sai Tamhankar, will start streaming on Netflix on February 9.
