'Border 2' release date out: Sunny Deol's film to arrive in theatres in January 2026

Sunny Deol announced the second edition of 'Border' on the film's 27th anniversary. A day after sharing the exciting news, the makers have now shared the release date of the film. Directed by Anurag Singh,  'Border 2' will be released on January 23, 2026. 

A statement announcing the film's release date can be read, "After confirming 'Border 2' officially, the makers have now announced the release date of 'Border 2' as January 23rd, 2026. Mark your calendars for promising a weekend filled with excitement, and nostalgia and for an epic cinematic experience."

On June 13, 2024, which marked 27 years of 'Border', the film's makers announced the sequel.  Sunny shared a video officially announcing his return in 'Border 2' and called it 'India's biggest war film'.''Ek fauji apne 27 saal purane waade ko pura karne, aa raha hai phirse. India’s biggest war film, #Border2,'' he wrote in the caption of the post.

Multiple media reports have suggested the 'Border 2' team will start shooting from October 2024. "The team behind 'Border 2' has been working tirelessly to prepare everything and it's been a long time in the making as they wanted to do justice to the magnitude of the first film. Now, as the preparations are almost done, the team will begin shooting. As it stands now, the team will begin shooting in October," an India Today report quoted a source as saying.

Touted as India's biggest war film, 'Border 2' will be released almost 29 years after the release of the first part, which was released in 1997. Ayushmann Khurrana has reportedly been roped in to play a key role in the film.
