'Brahmastra Part One: Shiva': Interesting facts about Ranbir Kapoor-Alia Bhatt starrer

Brahmāstra: Part One – Shiva : ‘Brahmastra’ is one of the most eagerly awaited films of this year. Starring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, the film is said to be India’s very own Marvel. The film is expected to explore divine weapons in Indian mythology. Well, ahead of its release on September 9, we bring to you things you must know about the film.

A trilogy 

Director Ayan Mukerji has already revealed that ‘Brahmastra’ is going to be a trilogy and Ranbir too shared some insight on it during a media interaction last year. The actor disclosed that Ayan has worked on the forthcoming film for six years and he will spend the next ten years of his life on this trilogy.  
‘So when the first part is complete, the audience will know it's not the end. That is something really exciting for me as an actor,’ he said. 


Ranbir and Alia’s first film together

‘Brahmastra’ marks Ranbir and Alia’s first on-screen collaboration. The couple will be portraying the role of Shiva and Isha in the film.
Shiva is an orphan from Mumbai, who has a unique connection with the fire, while Isha is his love interest.
The also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy, and Nagarjuna in pivotal roles.
The film’s budget
The fantasy drama has reportedly been made on a massive budget of ₹300crores! The film is backed by Karan Johar’s Dharma Production. 


Title of the film

As per reports, the makers had initially decided on 'Dragon' as the working title of the film, but it was later changed to ‘Brahmastra’.
Nagarjuna’s Bollywood comeback
The film marks Nagarjuna’s comeback to Bollywood after almost two decades. The actor last featured in the 2003 historical war film ‘LOC Kargil’. He made his Bollywood debut with Ram Gopal Varma’s 1990 film ‘Shiva’ and went on to feature in several other popular films like ‘Criminal’, ‘Drohi’ & ‘Khuda Gawah’.  
WWE wrestler Saurav Gurjar to feature in the film
WWE wrestler Saurav Gurjar will reportedly be seen portraying a negative role in the film and will go head-to-head with Ranbir Kapoor’s character Shiva. 

India’s own Marvel

In an interview, Ranbir opened up about ‘Brahmastra’ being India’s own Marvel. He said the film is deeply rooted in Indian culture and they have tried to create their own Marvel. ‘Any film, any good compelling story, made in your culture, in an authentic way, in a true form, will connect to a large audience,’ he said. 
According to the makers, Astraverse is a planned original cinematic universe centered on Indian mythology.

Logo launch

The film’s journey began at the Kumbh Mela in 2019 on the occasion of Maha Shivratri.  The makers of ‘Brahmastra’ launched 150 drones that illuminated the evening sky to reveal the film’s logo. This was done above the confluence at the Triveni Sangam of Prayagraj in the presence of over 10 million visitors.

SS Rajamouli to present the film in the south
The Ayan Mukerji directorial will release in five languages - Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. Celebrated filmmaker SS Rajamouli will be presenting the magnum opus ‘Brahmastra’ in South languages.
