‘Chaapaak’ (2020)
Directed by Meghna Gulzar, the film stars Deepika Padukone in the lead role. This biographical drama is based on the life of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal. Laxmi Aggarwal not only came out of the trauma but also fought a very tough fight against the culprit and became the voice of the other acid attack survivors.
‘Saand Ki Aankh’ (2019)
Starring Taapsee Pannu, Bhumi Pednekar, and Prakash Jha, this Tushar Hiranandani directorial is based on the lives of Chandro and Prakash Tomar, who fought the patriarchal society and accidentally discovered their shooting skills in their 60s. With the help of an instructor, they participate in various competitions.
‘Super 30’ (2019)
This Vikas Bahl directorial is based on the life of mathematics teacher and educator Anand Kumar who gives free coaching to students from the economically weaker section for IIT-JEE examinations. Hrithik Roshan starred in the lead role alongside Mrunal Thakur.
‘PadMan’ (2018)
Starring Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor, and Radhika Apte, the film is based on the life of Arunachalam Muruganantham, a social activist from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, who made cheap sanitary pads for women in rural areas. Twinkle Khanna, who has produced the film, has also chronicled his journey in her fictional story ‘The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad’.
‘Mission Mangal’ (2019)
This film is loosely inspired by the life of scientists at the Indian Space Research Organization who contributed to India's first interplanetary expedition Mars Orbiter Mission. The film highlighted the struggles the scientists had to face in their professional as well as personal lives to achieve success in the mars mission. The film starred Akshay Kumar alongside Vidya Balan, Sonakshi Sinha, and Taapsee Pannu. Jagan Shakti directed it.
