Chiranjeevi honoured; says ‘regional has to go, it has should only be Indian films’

Superstar Chiranjeevi has been honoured with the Indian Film Personality of the Year award at the 53rd International Film Festival of India. He was felicitated by the Union I&B Minister Anurag Thakur and Pramod Sawant, Chief Minsiter of Goa.

At the event, Chrianjeevi revealed that he was waiting for the day for a long time and recalled that earlier no South cinema actors used to attend or feature at film festival. He also stated that now the term ‘regional cinema’ must not be used as it ‘Indian cinema’ at the end of the day.

Chiranjeevi thanked IFFI, the government of India and the film industry and mentioned that he owes a lot to the showbiz world. The actor assured his fans that he will continue acting till his last breath.

The closing ceremony of the IFFI was attended by many celebrities including Akshay Kumar and Rana Daggubati.

The closing film of this festival will be the Polish film ‘Perfect Number’, directed by Krzysztof Zanussi.
