Choreographer Ganesh Acharya was granted bail in a sexual harassment case by a magistrate's court in Mumbai on Thursday. According to Hindustan Times, a case was registered against him in February 2020 at suburban Amboli police station for allegedly beating up an assistant choreographer. The complainant reportedly alleged that Acharya forced her to watch adult videos when she went to meet him at his office in 2009-10. The complainant also said she was assaulted during an event in Andheri on January 26, 2020.
Mumbai Police booked Ganesh Acharya for sexual harassment, voyeurism, and other charges in April this year. The choreographer was never arrested in the case. He was granted bail following his appearance before the magistrate's court on Thursday. Ganesh Acharya has denied all the allegations.
Ganesh Acharya started his career as a choreographer in the early 1990s. He gained widespread recognition for his work on the song 'Badi Mushkil' from the 2001 film 'Lajja.' Acharya turned director with 'Swami.' He has also featured in a number of films.
