Deepika Padukone talks about the type of roles that intrigue her, here’s what the actor said

Actor Deepika Padukone, who is gearing up for the release of her forthcoming film ‘Pathaan’, has opened up about portraying an empowered woman on the screen and if she actually relates to those on-screen roles in real life.

In an exclusive conversation with Grazia, the ‘Piku’ actor said, ‘I’ve always played characters that imbibe a little bit of who I am, but I’ve always enjoyed essaying roles that are starkly removed from who I am too.  in telling a story convincingly.’
Citing the example of her character Veronica in the film ‘Cocktail’, she said, ‘Veronica was nothing like me in real life. She's fiery, feisty, and fierce. But deep down, she had an emotional core that longed for love and friendship. Her uniqueness intrigued me.’

‘In Piku, I had no frills or crutches to rely on; I had to keep it as authentic as possible,’ the actor added.

On the work front, Deepika Padukone recently surprised fans as she featured in the song ‘Current Laga Re’ along with her husband-actor Ranveer Singh from his forthcoming film 'Cirkus'. Besides ‘Pathaan’, she also has ‘Fighter’ alongside Hrithik Roshan and 'Singham 3’ with Ajay Devgn in her kitty.
