Jaya Bachchan made her acting debut in Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s ‘Guddi’ in which she played a teenager who is a big fan of the film star Dharmendra. Previously, Jaya had mentioned that she had a huge crush on Dharmendra during those years and how she was completely in awe of the actor.

Now, at success meet of ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’, Dharmendra said that even after 52 years of Jaya Bachchan’s debut film, he still calls her ‘Guddi’. He also recalled how her photo session, presumably the first one, was done at his house.

When Karan Johar asked Dharmendra about their association from Guddi days, the veteran actor said, ‘I still call her Guddi.’

He added, ‘Her photo session was at my house only. She used to be my fan, she used to tell me all the dialogues’.

Complimenting Jaya’s acting prowess, Dharmendra said, ‘Guddi is a fine actress. We still visit each other. Whenever we meet, it feels great. Voh Guddi hi hai meri. (For me, she will always be Guddi).’

Dharmendra plays Kanwal in the Karan Johar directorial who is struggling with his memory. His problems are temporarily subsided after he meets his lost lover Jamini, played by Shabana Azmi.

The film shows how Kanwal and Jamini gave up on each other during their younger days because they were both married. Their reunion after decades comes as a shock to Jaya Bachchan’s Dhanalakshmi.
