Sharmin Segal, known for her role in the Netflix series ‘Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar,’ shared details of her initial encounter with Salman Khan in an interview with ETimes. She disclosed that Salman had once proposed to her. Segal, who is filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali's niece, portrayed Manisha Koirala's daughter in his digital debut ‘Heeramandi.’
When asked about the first celebrity she encountered, Sharmin reminisced about meeting Salman Khan during the filming of ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’ (Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 1999 movie). Recalling the moment when she was around two or three years old, she shared how Salman jokingly proposed marriage to her, and she replied with a resolute 'No!'
Sharmin noted that at such a tender age, she naturally didn't understand the notion of marriage and tended to reject everything. She, who tied the knot with businessman Aman Mehta in November 2023, further mentioned, ‘I still fangirl over O O Jaane Jaana (Salman's famous song from his 1998 film Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya) so let's not even go there. I was about two years old! I said no to everything!’
Sharmin's latest venture is the Netflix series ‘Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar,’ available for streaming. Directed by her uncle, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the period drama delves into the lives of courtesans in pre-partition Lahore. The stellar cast, featuring Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Aditi Rao Hydari, and Richa Chadha, has been earning accolades from both fans and celebrities.
Salman Khan was last seen in Maneesh Sharma’s ‘Tiger 3’ with Katrina Kaif. He will next be seen in ‘Sikandar’. The film, helmed by AR Murugadoss, will mark Salman's first collaboration with the 'Ghajini' director. Touted to be an actioner, 'Sikandar' will hit theatres during Eid 2025.
