‘Drishyam 2’, starring Ajay Devgn, Tabu, and Shriya Saran, has a flying start at the box office. The Abhishek Pathak directorial had one of the best advance ticket sales for any Hindi film this year. The film broke the opening day record of Kartik Aaryan starrer ‘Bhool Bhulaiyya 2’ which earned Rs 14.11 crore on its first day.
According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, ‘Drishyam 2’ earned Rs 15.38 crore on Friday. '#Drishyam2 REJUVENATES the industry that was going through a turbulent phase after a string of failures… Takes a FLYING START on Day 1, SECOND BIGGEST START of 2022 [outright #Hindi films] ₹ 50 cr+ weekend on the cards Fri ₹ 15.38 cr. #India biz,' he tweeted.
This is a huge sigh of relief for the Hindi Film Industry as it is reeling through tough times. Many big-budget films which were expected to do good business, like 'Laal Singh Chaddha, 'Ram Setu', 'Raksha Bandhan', failed at the box office.
As per this trend, 'Drishyam 2' is expected to cross ₹ 50 cr on the weekend itself.
This film is a sequel to the 2015 hit 'Drishyam'. The film also stars Ishita Dutta and Akshaye Khanna among others in pivotal roles.
