‘Dunki’ 1st day 1st show: Fans celebrate with dhols, fireworks at Mumbai’s Gaiety Galaxy; videos go viral

Shah Rukh Khan’s much-awaited film ‘Dunki’ is finally in theatres. The Rajkumar Hirani directorial’s first show in India was hosted at 5:55AM at Mumbai’s iconic single screen theatre Gaiety Galaxy and fans ensured it was nothing less than a celebration.

Videos shared by Shah Rukh Khan's fans online show a large crowd celebrating with traditional dhol-tasha beats and fireworks. A significant cutout of Shah Rukh Khan was also seen at the venue.

In a video posted on Twitter, which is now referred to as X, Shah Rukh Khan's fans were observed dancing together to the rhythm of the dhol. Some fans were spotted holding up cutouts representing a flight with ‘Dunki’ written on them. A small stage had been set up for the fireworks display. The fans were seen dancing outside the theatre while eagerly anticipating the film's premiere.

Shah Rukh Khan reacted positively to the videos and seemed enthusiastic about the film's release. He reposted the videos from Gaiety Galaxy and expressed his gratitude, saying, ‘Thank u guys and girls have a good show and hope u all get entertained by #Dunki.’

‘Dunki’ has received a U/A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification and has a runtime of 2 hours 41 minutes.

The film's trailer and songs have created significant excitement. It follows the emotional journey of a group of friends who aspire to move abroad, depicting their unconventional route known as the Donkey Flight and the challenges they face.

Produced by Rajkumar Hirani and Gauri Khan, ‘Dunki’ is a collaboration between JIO Studios, Red Chillies Entertainment, and Rajkumar Hirani Films. The screenplay is written by Abhijat Joshi, Rajkumar Hirani, and Kanika Dhillon.

‘Dunki’ will face a box office clash with Prabhas starrer ‘Salaar’, which is set to release in cinemas on December 22.
