'Emergency': Anupam Kher to essay the role of Jayaprakash Narayan, shares first look

Anupam Kher is all set to portray the role of Indian politician Jayaprakash Narayan. Taking to social media, Anupam wrote, "BIG: Happy and proud to essay the role of the man who questioned fearlessly, a rebel in the truest sense of the word, #JayaPrakashNarayan in #KanganaRanaut starrer and directorial next #Emergency. My 527th! Jai Ho! #JP #Loknayak (sic)."

As mentioned in the tweet, 'Emergency' will be Anupam Kher's 527th film of his career. The political drama stars Kangana Ranaut in the role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. In the first look and teaser of the film, Kangana looked like a true carbon copy of the iconic leader. 

'Emergency' is based on true events that unfolded in 1975 during the reign of Indira Gandhi. 

The film has been directed and written by Kangana Ranaut and also produced by her and Renu Pitti. It is all set to release in theatres in 2023.
