Singer Neha Kakkar’s recreation of Falguni Pathak’s iconic song ‘Maine Payal Hai Chhankai’ from the 90s is drawing strong reactions from a section of social media users. While some seem to be loving the recently released track, titled ‘O Sajna’, there are others who are criticizing Neha for ‘ruining’ the original.

Falguni Pathak seems to be unhappy with the recreation as well. She has reposted several videos and posts slamming the song, and indirectly showing her disapproval. ‘O Sajna’ premiered on YouTube on September 19. Sung by Neha, the music video features Priyank Sharma, Dhanashree Verma, and the singer herself. Many have commented on the YouTube video, saying that ‘no one can beat the old version’.

The original song ‘Maine Payal Hai Chhankai’ was released in 1999 and it was part of Falguni’s album of the same name. The song which was a massive hit featured TV actor Vivan Bhatena and model Nikhila Palat.

In a recent media interaction, Neha talked about recreating the song and said, ‘I had a blast singing and filming the music video of ‘O Sajna’. With the kind of response and love the young audience showered on the teaser yesterday at the college event, I’m overjoyed! It’s fun, energetic, and vibrant and I’m confident people are going to love it.’
