Days after her mother Menaka Irani's passing, Farah Khan took to Instagram to pen a heartfelt note and announce her return to work. Her mother passed away on July 26. The choreographer-filmmaker shared a series of throwback pictures with her mother on Instagram and dedicated an emotional message to her.

Farah wrote, ‘My mom was a very unique person.. never wanted the limelight or any fuss around her.. despite the hard knocks she faced in her early life she was a rare one who had no bitterness or envy towards anyone. Everyone who met her loved her and realized where we get our sense of humour from. Well, hardly.. she was far wittier and funnier than both Sajid and I put together.’

The filmmaker expressed her gratitude to everyone who visited during her time of grief and revealed how her mother always helped people financially without expecting repayment.

In the same note, Farah announced her decision of returning to work.

Her note read: ‘Its time to get back to work.. that’s what she was always proud of. Our work! I don’t want time to heal this lump that will always stay in my heart.. I don’t want to miss her coz she’s always a part of me..grateful to the universe for letting her be my mother n letting us look after her the way she single handedly looked after us all her life.. no more mourning now.. I want to celebrate her every day.. thank you everyone.’

Farah also expressed her gratitude to the numerous doctors who, through their treatment, gave her a few extra days with her mom.

Sajid Khan shared a throwback photo with his mom on Instagram, captioned, ‘Still can’t believe you are gone…luv u forever mummy…’

Menaka Irani had celebrated her 79th birthday just two weeks before her passing. Married to Kamran Khan, Menaka also starred in the 1963 film ‘Bachpan’ opposite Salim Khan.
