Farhan Akhtar is celebrating his 50th birthday today and wishes are pouring in for him on social media from family, friends, and fans. On the special occasion, veteran actor Shabana Azmi took to Instagram and posted a sweet birthday wish for her stepson along with a picture from their midnight celebrations.
The photograph features Shabana with husband Javed Akhtar and other family members. The party was also attended by Farhan’s mother, Honey Irani, sister Zoya Akhtar, wife Shibani Dandekar and her sister Anusha Dandekar.
Sharing the post, Shabana wrote, ‘Salgirah mubarak betu #FarhanAkhtar. Jeete raho khush raho bahut saara pyar (Happy birthday son. Stay blessed. Lots of love)’.
Fans showered the actor-director with blessings on his birthday, and appreciated Shabana as well.
A fan commented, ‘You have such a lovely family’, while another wrote, ‘Aapne jis tarah Farhan ji ko betu kaha wo bahut hi pyara hai .. aise laga aap hum men se ek hain and not a distant celebrity (The way you called Farhan ‘son’ is very sweet. It felt like you are one of us and not a distant celebrity).’
Shabana Azmi shares a cordial relationship with Honey Irani, Javed’s first wife. In an earlier interview with Filmfare, she spoke about the same and said, ‘We are very friendly. I have a great relationship with them based on friendship and trust. I value Farhan and Zoya very much and I think they value me. I think a lot of that credit goes to their mom Honey (Irani). I must say that she was very generous.’
She also credited Honey for raising Zoya and Farhan to be accepting of her marriage with Javed.
‘If she had decided that the kids would not be friends with me, then they couldn’t have been friends with me. So I have to accept in all honesty that I owe it to Honey that I have such a beautiful relationship not only with her children but also with her. We have a beautiful, happy bond. And I don’t poke my nose in their business. If I feel there is something they would rather not talk about, I do not talk about it,’ she said.
