Polling is underway in the 57 parliamentary constituencies across eight states and the Union Territories in the last phase of the Lok Sabha elections. Several celebrities stepped out to carry out their democratic duty on the day.
Contesting her first ever elections, Kangana Ranaut cast her vote in Mandi. The Bollywood actor turned politician urged the people to come out in large numbers and exercise their voting rights. Kangana also exuded confidence in BJP sweeping all four seats in the state.
Veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty, who was recently awarded Padma Bhushan, also exercised his voting rights. The 73-year-old actor was among the first voters to arrive at the booth. The actor was seen patiently waiting for his turn in a queue in Kolkata. The veteran actor, who is also a BJP leader, said, “I am a BJP cadre, I have done my duty.”
Bollywood heartthrob Ayushmann Khurrana arrived in Chandigarh to cast his vote. The actor flaunted his inked finger after voting. The actor said, “I came back to my city to cast my vote and exercise my right... Mumbai recorded a very low voter turnout this time but we should cast out vote... We don’t have a right to complain if we don’t vote...”
BJP MP from Chandigarh, actor Kirron Kher also cast her vote. Speaking to the media, Kher also clarified on not contesting the elections this time despite her huge popularity. She said, “I told them 3 months ago that I do not want to contest elections this time. People will remember me for the next 10 years. I was living in Chandigarh and was completely accessible for everyone...” The veteran actor was diagnosed with cancer and underwent treatment a while ago.
Among the other actors who cast their vote in the last phase, was Gul Panag. The actor arrived early at the polling booth. She shared pictures of her inked finger on Instagram with caption, “Early birds.”
