Filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi's forthcoming film ‘Gandhi Godse: Ek Yudh’ has been facing protests ever since its trailer was released by the makers. The makers held a press conference in Mumbai on Friday. However, it was interrupted by protestors and police had to take control of the situation.
A video is being widely shared on the internet in which the protestors are seen waving black flags to express their anger. They even raised slogans of 'Mahatma Gandhi Zindabaad' and 'Gandhi ji, amar rahe.’
Some protesters even sat among the media.
The trailer of ‘Gandhi Godse: Ek Yudh’ upset many political leaders and they accused the makers of glorifying Nathuram Godse. Effigies of the director were burnt by protestors in Bhopal.
Rajkumar Santoshi defended his film in a statement and said, ‘Once people see the film, they will understand what I am trying to convey through my film. I have equally given importance to both the historical characters in my films’.
