The trailer of Abhishek Bachchan and Saiyami Kher starrer ‘Ghoomer’ has been released.
The R Balki directorial is about a paraplegic sportsperson who triumphs as a cricketer under the guidance of her coach.
The trailer shows Saiyami's character getting selected in the national team and just as everything is working out for her, she loses her arm in a car accident.
Bachchan’s character trains her to use her left hand just as effectively and we eventually see her playing for Team India.
‘Ghoomer’ also stars Shabana Azmi and Angad Bedi.
Amitabh Bachchan also appears in the trailer.
The movie is scheduled to release in theatres on August 18. It will also premiere at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2023.
'Ghoomer's idea was inspired by the life of Hungarian right-hand shooter Karoly Takacs. He won two Olympic gold medals using his left hand after his right hand was injured.
He told PTI at the 53rd International Film Festival of India, 'I suggested let’s make it a cricket film rather than a shooting film as people will take a lot of time to understand (the sport).'
R Balki recently directed Dulquer Salmaan starrer 'Chup Revenge of the Artist'.
He has previously worked with Abhishek Bachchan in 'Paa'.
