'Gumraah' which is a crime thriller, had a weak opening day on Friday, earning just Rs. 1.10 crore domestically. The film is a Hindi remake of the Tamil film Thadam (2019) in which Aditya Roy Kapur plays a dual role for the first time in his career. It has been directed by a first-time filmmaker Vardhan Ketkar and stars Mrunal Thakur and Ronit Roy too. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to twitter and shared the Day-1 collection for the film.
The trade analyst wrote, '#Gumraah puts up a lacklustre total on Day 1, despite holiday [#GoodFriday]… Fri ₹ 1.10 cr. #India biz. Needs a miraculous turnaround on Day 2 and 3 to salvage the show.'
Gumraah ought to have performed better on Friday given the long weekend associated with Easter and the lack of significant competition in theaters. The film needs to find its audience over the weekend to have any chance of having any impact at the box office. Rashtra Kavach Om (2022), Aditya's most last movie, also struggled financially.
