Ace comedian-actor Kapil Sharma, who is busy promoting his forthcoming film, 'Zwigato' has opened up about a difficult phase in his life as he battled depression and anxiety. He called this phase a learning experience.
In an exclusive conversation with Aaj Tak, he said, 'As a public figure, crores of people know you, and you entertain them, but when you come home, you are alone. You are also not in a situation to live an everyday life where you can go out, sit on the beach and look at the see, you live in a two-room flat, and I cannot explain how bad the feeling is when it's dark outside by evening.'
He added, 'In that phase, I thought about committing suicide. I thought there is nobody with whom I can share what I feel. The place where I come from, mental health is not something that is discussed. I don’t think this was the first time that I went through this phase. Maybe, during childhood, I must have felt low, but nobody would have noticed.'
'Now that I think about it, I think it was a good phase, only because life got filtered after that. If that phase didn’t come, I would not have learned to enjoy small things in life,' he concluded.
Directed by Nandita Das, 'Zwigato' will hit the theaters on March 17.
