Actor Abhishek Bachchan is known for confronting the trolls online and putting them to their place by giving a befitting reply and holding his ground.
Here’s a look at few of the instances
Abhishek replied to a tweet from a renowned journalist, who criticised the newspapers for printing Diwali ads on the front page rather than news stories. Jr Bachchan asked if people still read newspapers, expressing his concern over those who are nowadays not giving first preference to newspapers.
However, a Twitter user noticed Abhishek’s tweet and trolled him by calling him ‘unemployed’. The user replied to Abhishek’s tweet by stating, ‘Intelligent people do. Not unemployed people like you.’
Abhishek gave a savage reply to the troll by tweeting, ‘Oh, I see! Thank you for that input. By the way, intelligence and employment aren’t related. Take you for example. I’m sure you’re employed, I’m also sure (judging by your tweet) that you’re not intelligent!’
When a Twitter user took a dig at the actor for still living his parents, Abhishek gave a fitting reply and said that it is the proudest moment for him to be able to be there for them, as they have for him. He asked the man to try it sometime as it might make him feel better about himself.
A guy who goes by the name of Ybn on his Twitter handle, wrote, ‘Don’t feel bad about your life. Just remember @juniorbachchan still lives with his parents. Keep hustling everyone.’
‘Yes! And it’s the proudest moment for me to be able to be there for them, as they have for me. Try it sometime, you might feel better about yourself,’ Abhishek wrote, as a reply to Ybn.
When a troll rudely asked him how would he feed himself as his father Amitabh Bachchan was in the hospital, battling Covid-19. Bachchan simply replied saying 'Philhaal toh let ke kha rahe hai dono ek saath hospital mein (For now, we are both lying down and eating together in the hospital).
The troll again took a dig at the actor and responded to that very few have the privilege of ‘let ke khana.’ Needled again, Abhishek responded, ‘I pray that you are never in a situation like ours and that you remain safe and healthy. Thank you for your wishes, ma'am.’
A troll once criticised Abhishek's career and asked him how he managed to get next movies after ‘Drona’, which had tanked at the box office. The actor came back with a stunning reply. Sharing the truth, Abhishek wrote, ‘I didn’t. Was dropped from a few films and it was very difficult to get cast. But we live in hope and keep trying, hoping and working towards our goals. You have to get up everyday and fight for your place under the sun. Nothing in life comes easy. जब तक जीवन है , संघर्ष है।‘
Abhishek Bachchan is often attacked for belonging to a prominent film family, which certain people on the internet believe gave him an unfair competitive edge in his career.
A Twitter user claimed that Jr Bachchan gets work only because of his father Amitabh Bachchan.
‘Aapko nahi lagta ke aapko filmon mein kaam sirf Amitabh Bachchan ke bete hone ki vajah se milta hai (Don’t you think you get work only because you’re Amitabh Bachchan’s son)?’ one person asked Abhishek. The actor replied, ‘Kaash jo aap keh rahe hote sach hota. Sochiye, kitna kaam milta mujhe. (I wish what you’re saying was true. Imagine how much work I’d get).’
