In her note, Dia thanked 2021 for making her a mother, revealed how she faced a ‘near death experience’, and ‘some very testing times’, and stated that all of it has only made her grateful for everything.

‘Our story has just begun’
Dia Mirza and Vaibhav Rekhi’s son Avyaan was born on May 14, 2021, prematurely. A few months later, on September 17, the actor shared a monochromatic photo with him on Instagram and he could be seen resting in his mother’s arms. ‘Our story has only just begun Avyaan 15.09.2021 (sic),’ Dia Mirza captioned her post.

In her post, Dia thanked the many good people who took very good care of her son in the first 4 months. She also thanked Avyaan for teaching them humility, grace, and the power of prayer.

First birthday
On the occasion of her son Avyaan’s first birthday, Dia called him a miracle as she shared an emotional post. She also revealed that John Lennon's song Imagine was being played when Avyaan was born.

‘You were 3 months premature at 820 gms. 36 hours after birth we discovered you had necrotising enterocolitis and had to go through life saving surgery. You were cared for and nourished in the NICU with a stoma for 90days and finally sent home to us with a stoma. After you had gained strength and weight you went back to hospital for a 2nd surgery that lasted four and half hours. The doctors prepared us for the worst and said it would take a minimum of 21 days before you could be back home with us. Avyaan Azaad, you were ready to be home with us on day 9 our warrior,’ wrote.

‘Your grace, your strength, your determination to fight the odds is so inspiring. Our son, you are now catching up on all your milestones, are happy, playful and loving. You fill our heart with joy and gratitude every single day. We are amazed and amused that your first spoken word is – Tiger,’ she added.

Maldivian vacation
Dia Mirza vacationed with her husband Vaibhav and stepdaughter Samaira in Maldives. The actor described her time at the island nation as ‘restful and restorative.’ Dia shared several photos from her trip on Instagram. One of her posts has been captioned, ‘We made some really special memories in Maldives’.
