‘Pathaan’s first song ‘Besharam Rang’ sparked a controversy as it showed lead star Deepika Padukone dancing alongside Shah Rukh Khan in a saffron bikini. There have been protests in various parts of the country alleging that the song’s content hurts the sentiments of Hindus.
Now, singer-rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh has weighed in on the controversy around the song and stated that it shows that audience has become way too ‘sensitive’.
Speaking with news agency PTI, Honey Singh, who worked with SRK on popular song ‘Lungi Dance’ from ‘Chennai Express’, said artists had much more creative freedom in the past. He said people may have been less educated but they were far more sensible.
He further cited example of AR Rahman’s song ‘Rukmani Rukmani’ from the 1992 feature ‘Roja’ and said that if the track had released in current times there could have been a huge controversy.
‘Pathaan’ is directed by Siddharth Aanand and produced by Yash Raj Films. The film, which also stars John Abraham, will hit the theatres on January 25.
On the work front, Honey Singh recently released a recreation of Rahman’s song ‘Yai Re’.
