‘IIFA 2022’ postponed to mid-July following the death of President Zayed

The International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) has now decided to postpone the 'IIFA Weekend & Awards' following the demise of the UAE President Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The event was originally scheduled to take place from May 19 till May 21 this year on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi.  The event will now take place from July 14-16 this year.

As per the statement issued by the organizers to the media, it stated “With this sad news, the UAE nation is in a state of mourning and has declared a 40-day mourning period. In solidarity with the people and Government of the UAE and with the national mourning being observed, the 22nd edition of the IIFA Weekend & Awards to be held on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi from the May 19 to May 21, 2022, has been postponed. The International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) has decided that the 2022 IIFA Weekend & Awards will be held instead from 14th to 16th July 2022”.

It further stated, “IIFA expresses its apologies to all the fans and ticketholders and promises a bigger, more exciting celebration of the India-UAE friendship at the later date.” 

Salman Khan, Riteish Deshmukh, and Maniesh Paul are expected to host the IIFA 2022’s edition.
