The International Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFA) 2023 were held on May 27 in Abu Dhabi. ‘Brahmastra’ and ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ won top honours and the event. Alia Bhatt won Best Actor in a Leading Role (female) for ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’, while Hrithik Roshan bagged the trophy of Best Actor in a Leading Role for ‘Vikram Vedha’.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Gangubai Kathiawadi' won several awards in the technical categories, including for cinematography, screenplay and dialogue.
Babil Khan, son of late Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan, shared the Best Debut (male) award with Santanu Maheshwari. The former won for his performance in 'Qala', while latter won for ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi.’
