Imran Khan is set to make a Bollywood comeback after a nine-year hiatus. According to a report from Peepingmoon.com, Imran is entering a new chapter in his professional journey with the support of his maternal uncle and mentor, Aamir Khan. Aamir played a crucial role in Imran's early career, introducing him to audiences as a child actor in 'Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak' in 1988, and later as a leading man in 'Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na' in 2008.

The report mentioned that he will star in ‘Happy Patel’ which will be Vir Das's directorial debut. Imran and Vir previously starred together in ‘Delhi Belly,’ which was also produced by Aamir Khan.

A source said: ‘Imran has finally locked in his comeback project, nearly eight months after he hinted at the possibility of returning to movies last year. He will star in and as Happy Patel in a quirky comedy produced by Aamir Khan Productions. The film is a laugh-riot and is set in a familiar yet uniquely fresh world, reminiscent of Imran's previous works. Shooting has already commenced in Goa.’

Imran was set to make his comeback with a spy series on Disney+ Hotstar, playing an intelligence officer. The series, helmed by Abbas Tyrewala, was scrapped after Hotstar's Jio takeover last year. In a recent Film Companion interview, Imran expressed relief, stating, ‘I don't want to play a character who solves problems with a gun.’

His last film appearance was in ‘Katti Batti’ with Kangana Ranaut, released in 2015.
