Actor Jacqueline Fernandez has moved Delhi HC in the Rs 200 crore extortion case linked to alleged conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar. She urged the dismissal of the Enforcement Directorate's case against her, stating allegations against her are untrue.

Fernandez claims being deceived by Sukesh and Aditi Singh, both under scrutiny in the case.

‘The petitioner is an innocent victim of Sukesh Chandrasekhar’s maliciously targeted attack. There is absolutely no indication that she had any involvement whatsoever in aiding him to launder his purportedly ill-gotten wealth. Hence she cannot be prosecuted… under the prevention of money laundering Act,’ the petition read as quoted by NDTV.

The plea also stated that she instead was presented as a prosecution witness in the EOW case.

‘Throughout their interactions, the main accused consistently presented himself as a free individual. The Petitioner had no way of knowing that the main accused was actually incarcerated, as his conduct always resembled that of a person at liberty,’ the plea added.

Fernandez, a co-accused in the ED's case, is listed as a witness in the Delhi Police's extortion case.

The ED's FIR originated from the Delhi Police's Economic Offences Wing (EOW) case against Chandrasekhar for allegedly cheating and extorting money from Aditi Singh, the wife of former Religare Enterprises promoter Shivinder Mohan Singh.

Seeking to quash the ECIR dated August 8, 2021, second supplementary complaint dated August 17, 2022 and the proceedings emanating therefrom, the actress in her plea has stated that the evidence filed by ED proves that she is an innocent victim of Chandrasekhar's maliciously targeted attack.

Jacqueline Fernandez has been accused of enjoying gifts from the alleged extortion of the Rs 200 crore from Aditi Singh, the wife of former Fortis Healthcare promoter Shivinder Singh.
