Filmmaker Atlee, who helmed Shah Rukh Khan starrer ‘Jawan’, attended the ASTRA Awards in the US in January. He recently took to social media to share a glimpse of the awards presentation.
In his note, Atlee thanked Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan for trusting him with the film, which emerged as the star’s biggest-ever blockbuster.
The filmmaker wrote, ‘Thank you Astra awards @hollywoodcreativealliance #jawan. Thank you @iamsrk sir @gaurikhan Mam @redchilliesent, my team, @priyaatlee.’
Atlee and wife Priya attended the award show together. Atlee shared a throwback video where he's interviewed on the red carpet. 'Jawan' didn't win in the Best International Feature category, losing to 'Anatomy of Fall'.
In a separate video, Atlee was questioned about the most significant lesson he has learned in the industry. The filmmaker said, ‘Being humble. That's what it needs. You've to respect everyone, and you've to be humble in life. Just not by pretending, you just have to be humble.’
'Jawan', featuring Shah Rukh Khan alongside Nayanthara and Deepika Padukone, premiered on September 23. It emerged as India's top-grossing film in 2023 and received a Best International Feature nomination at the ASTRA Awards, hosted by Hollywood Creative Alliance. However, the award went to Justine Triet's French legal drama-thriller 'Anatomy of a Fall', beating contenders like 'Concrete Utopia', 'Fallen Leaves', 'Perfect Days', and 'Radical'.
'Jawan', a commercial entertainer, grossed over Rs 1100 crore globally.
The star-studded cast features Shah Rukh Khan, Nayanthara, and Vijay Sethupathi in pivotal roles, with Deepika Padukone making a special cameo.
Priyamani, Sanya Malhotra, Sunil Grover, Riddhi Dogra, Sanjeeta Bhattacharya, Girija Oak, and Lehar Khan are among the supporting actors.
In his current endeavors, Atlee is producing Kalees' film ‘Baby John,’ featuring Varun Dhawan, Keerthy Suresh, and Wamiqa Gabbi.
