Atlee's 'Jawan', starring actor Shah Rukh Khan, is in trouble as a complaint has been filed against the filmmaker for allegedly copying the story of Vijayakanth’s 2006 Tamil movie ‘Perarasu’.
As per reports, Tamil producer Manickam Narayanan has filed a complaint with Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC), and the board members will be investigating the matter after November 7. The story rights reportedly lie with producer Manickam.
In movie ‘Perarasu’, directed by Udhayan, Vijayakanth played a role of twin brothers Perarasu and Ilavarasu. Shah Rukh Khan is also reportedly playing a dual role in the film, but the plot is still unknown.
Atlee, one of the most successful filmmakers, has faced plagiarism allegations earlier as well. His first film ‘Theri’ was alleged to be plagiarised from ‘Chathriyan’. His other films such as ‘Mersal’ and ‘Bigil’ were compared with ‘Aboorva Sagotharargal’ and ‘Chak De India’ respectively.
‘Jawan’ is scheduled to hit theatres in June next year. The film also stars Tamil actors Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Yogi Babu and Priyamani. Reports state that Deepika Padukone will also be seen in cameo role in the movie. This is Atlee's first directorial film in Bollywood industry.
