Johnny Depp is gearing up to make a grand comeback to the big screen after his infamous court battle with ex-wife Amber Heard. The actor will be seen in a French film ‘Jeanne du Barry’ soon and will also mark his debut in French cinema.

Johnny Depp’s comeback film

The ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ actor will portray the role of King Louis XV in the French historical drama film. Depp will be seen for the first time on the big screen after winning the controversial defamation lawsuit against his former wife, Amber Heard. The Hollywood star, however, said that this is not his ‘comeback’. “I keep wondering about the word comeback because I didn’t go anywhere. The notion of something like that is a bizzare mystery,” Depp said at the Cannes in 2023.

Speaking about his transformation into King Louis XV, Depp said, “First of all, even if I speak a little French, to get as close as possible to 18th-century French, I worked with a coach who was extremely effective when it came to pronunciation, for example, my goal was to detach myself as much as possible from this question so that the words would come out of my mouth in the most natural way possible and I could focus on acting and on my fellow actors."

About Johnny Depp’s upcoming release ‘Jeanne du Barry’

Johnny Deep starrer ‘Jeanne du Barry’ follows the story of Jeanne du Barry, the illegitimate daughter of a courtesan. Jeanne uses her charms and intelligence to climb the social ladder step by step, becoming one of King Louis XV’s favourite.
