Nag Ashwin's ‘Kalki 2898 AD,’ starring Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, and Kamal Haasan, is one of the highly anticipated films of 2024. On April 21, the makers shared a new teaser of the forthcoming movie, revealing that Amitabh Bachchan plays the immortal Ashwatthama in the epic.

In the teaser, Bachchan is seen praying before a Shiva linga in a cave in yellow attire. When asked who he is, he responds, ‘I am Guru Drona’s son, Ashwatthama, who has awaited the Avatar's arrival since ancient times.’

The exclusive first look debuted on Star Sports before the IPL 2024 match between Punjab Kings and Gujarat Titans on April 21 evening. Earlier, the producers unveiled a teaser poster announcing the first-look event, showing Amitabh Bachchan fully clothed and masked in a temple-like setting.

Amitabh Bachchan shared his unique experience working on the film on his X account. ‘T 4988 - It's been an experience for me like no other .. The mind to think such a product, the execution the exposure to modern technology and above all the company of colleagues with stratospheric Super star presence...’ he wrote.

‘Kalki 2898 AD,’ a sci-fi movie starring Prabhas, Deepika, Amitabh, and Kamal, unveiled a new poster on Maha Shivaratri, revealing Prabhas's character as Bhairava. The film is set to release on May 9.
At the Synapse 2024 event in Gurgaon, Nag talked about the film’s name. He said, ‘The film starts with Mahabharat and ends in 2898 AD. It spans 6000 years in time. We tried to create worlds, imagining what they would be like while still keeping it Indian, and not make it look like Blade Runner.’
