Actor Kangana Ranaut took to Instagram Stories on June 2 to take credit for starting the airport look trend in India.
She shared a picture of her 2018 look at the Mumbai airport when she was spotted wearing a Di or dress with a Prada overcoat.
She went on to share many other looks and called herself 'a victim of capitalism'. She added that she was 'brainwashed' by magazine editors and the fashion industry to look like a western woman so that she could fill the pockets of international designers.
Kangana said she was ashamed to repeat clothes and kept buying new outfits without caring about the impact of her choices on the environment.
She asked herself, 'If this is how an Indian woman looks, then what does an American woman look like?', as she posted a collage of several of her appearances.
She continued by saying, 'Bye bye airport looks, we've moved past that stage. Now is the time to consider how many Indians will profit from this, even if I only purchase one article of clothing.'
At airports, Kangana is frequently spotted wearing cotton sarees and salwar kurtas. Depending on the weather, she is also seen wearing traditional western attire.
