Kareena Kapoor Khan's statement during a recent media interaction didn't go down well with the netizens. She was brutally trolled for referring to 'Forrest Gump' as an 'elitist and classist' movie while promoting her film 'Laal Singh Chaddha', an official adaptation of the former. A section of social media users stated that she underestimated the Indian audience's intellect with her 'insensitive' remark.
In an exclusive interview with News18, the actor revealed that she isn't aware that her comment infuriated people on social media. She said that every day people find one or the other reason to troll actors and that's why she is not on Twitter.
'Every day, there’s one reason or the other for which we’re trolled. That’s why I’m not on Twitter. I feel like it’s for people who just want to keep venting and I don’t have time for that. I’m very busy with my kids, family and work. I don’t have time for all this,' she said.
Reiterating her statement on 'Forrest Gump', the 'Aitraaz' actor said that those who don't speak English will watch the film for their love of the story which they know from the trailer and not because it's a remake of a Hollywood film.
'It’s being dubbed in Tamil and Telugu too so that people can watch and enjoy it in their own language, and there’s nothing wrong in that. Not everyone in the world would have seen Forrest Gump!,' she said.
'Laal Singh Chaddha' releases in the theatres today. It also stars Aamir Khan, Mona Singh, and Naga Chaitanya in pivotal roles.
