The first teaser for Tabu starrer ‘Khufiyua’ has been unveiled which mentions the film’s release date. Vishal Bhardwaj’s spy thriller will be released on October 5, just two weeks after Netflix debuts Kareena Kapoor starrer ‘Jaane Jaan’.

A date announcement video was released on September 14 which shows Tabu’s character anxiously observing a suspicious character on CCTV cameras. The person on screen appears to be taking out some photocopies. Tabu commands her aide to zoom into the footage, which reveals the film’s release date: October 5.

Based on Amar Bhushan's espionage novel ‘Escape to Nowhere’, the film also stars Ali Fazal, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Ashish Vidyarthi.

Speaking about the film in an interview with News18, Vishal Bhardwaj said, ‘I have changed the gender of the character for Tabu. I always find a reason to work with Tabu. Khufiya is a really special project for me. The entire team has worked very hard to create a suspenseful, slow-burning thriller, and with Netflix, we are thrilled to present the film to audiences globally.’

Vishal Bhardwaj has previously collaborated with Tabu on ‘Haider’ and ‘Maqbool’. She also starred in his son Aasman Bhardwaj’s debut film, ‘Kuttey’.
