Hrithik Roshan's ‘Krrish’ franchise is hailed as one of Bollywood's most successful. In 2021, the actor teased fans with a video announcing the fourth installment of the movie, sparking excitement. However, updates have been scarce since. Recent reports indicate that filming is slated to commence next year, raising hopes among eager fans.
According to a report in Midday, Hrithik Roshan and his filmmaker, father Rakesh Roshan aim to finalize the concept for ‘Krrish 4’ this summer. A source close to the project revealed that despite Hrithik's busy schedule filming for ‘War 2’, he will collaborate with his father and their team of writers to brainstorm ideas for the next installment. The project is said to be in advanced stages of development.
‘Hrithik has scheduled brainstorming sessions throughout the summer. Both Rakesh and he want to deliver a story that will exceed expectations,’ the source said.
Furthermore, the report indicates that the makers intend to finalize the basic concept this year and prepare for the shoot in 2025.
The superhero franchise began with the 2003 film 'Koi Mil Gaya,' featuring Hrithik Roshan and Preity Zinta. Subsequently, 'Krrish,' starring Hrithik Roshan and Priyanka Chopra, released in 2006. The third installment, 'Krrish 3,' starred Kangana Ranaut opposite Hrithik and was released in 2013.
In a recent interview with India Today, Rakesh Roshan expressed his concerns about the current state of the film industry about the upcoming project. He highlighted the challenge of attracting audiences back to theatres amid the dominance of Hollywood superhero films with much larger budgets. Despite this, he emphasised that Krrish 4 would be a significant endeavor for the franchise.
Hrithik Roshan was last seen in Siddharth Anand’s action film ‘Fighter’ alongside Deepika Padukone. The film received mixed reviews and grossed ₹337.2 crore worldwide.
