‘Laal Singh Chaddha’, starring Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan, is all set to release on August 11. The film has been making headlines for the last few weeks as a section of Twitter users have called for its boycott, citing an old remark made by Aamir on the ‘growing intolerance’ in the country. Ahead of its release, here is a look at some of the interesting facts about the forthcoming comedy-drama.
Aamir and Kareena’s pairing
Aamir and Kareena are one of the finest actors in the country and their chemistry is unmissable. The duo will be reuniting on the big screen once again with ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’. They earlier starred together in Rajkumar Hirani’s ‘3 Idiots’ and Reema Kagti’s ‘Talaash: The Answer Lies Within’.
Kareena had to screen test for the part
During ‘Koffee With Karan’, Aamir revealed that Kareena wasn’t the first choice for the film. She had to give a screen test to see if she fits the part. ‘We didn’t think of her originally because we thought 25. We were stuck in that 25 which was a stupid thing. She too can get de-ageing with me and whatever is required and I’m so glad we saw that ad because I cannot imagine anyone else in this role other than Kareena,’ Aamir said on the show.
Film was shot across 100 locations
The upcoming film was shot for close to 200 days in over 100 locations across India. This is the most number of days Aamir has shot for a film since ‘Lagaan’. A source told News18 that the superstar has never compromised on the quality and output of his content and films and went the extra mile for ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’.
Hollywood press show
‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ is an official Hindi remake of 1994 Hollywood cult classic ‘Forrest Gump’. Even though the film is facing protest in India, Hollywood’s major studio Paramount Pictures is distributing the Aamir Khan starrer worldwide.
It is the first Indian movie to have a special screening for the Hollywood press.
It took 14 years to make the film
During ‘Koffee With Karan’, Aamir revealed that Atul Kulkarni proposed an Indian adaptation of ‘Forrest Gump’ in 2008. However, it took two years for him to be convinced that a Hollywood classic can be remade. It took nearly a decade for Aamir to acquire the rights of the film.
After that, the pandemic hit and the film got delayed. Aamir finally managed to sail through 14 years to actually bring the story in front of an audience.
Trailer launched at IPL final
‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ trailer was released during the Indian Premier League 2022 final between Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals. This is the first time ever that a film witnessed a grand trailer launch on the world television platform and sports world.
