As the voting for the 5th phase of Lok Sabha kicked off in Mumbai, several Bollywood celebrities stepped out to cast their votes. Govinda, Shahid Kapoor, Suniel Shetty, Mahesh Bhatt and Pooja Bhatt, Ira Khan and Junaid Khan, and Paresh Rawal were among the many stars who exercised their voting rights.
Shiv Sena leader-actor Govinda was seen arriving at a polling booth in Mumbai.
Shahid arrived early at his polling booth in Mumbai to cast his vote and later urged his fans on Instagram to do the same. Shahid Kapoor shared a photo of the indelible ink on his finger, captioning it, ‘Cast your vote. Every vote matters’.
Pooja shared a picture with father Mahesh Bhatt and wrote, ‘Walked our talk. Talked our walk! Was thrilled to see a long line at the polling booths at 7.00 am this morning. Keep it up Bandra! Keep it up Mumbai! Please go vote. Your voice matters!
Speaking with the reporters stationed outside his polling booth, Paresh Rawal said, ‘...There should be some provisions for those who don't vote, like an increase in tax or some other punishment.’
Suniel Shetty, Aamir Khan’s children Ira and Junaid flaunted their inked fingers after casting their votes.
Earlier, Akshay Kumar, Farhan and Zoya Akhtar, Rajkummar Rao, Janhvi Kapoor and Sanya Malhotra were seen casting their votes in the city. They happily posed for the cameras after getting inked.
The fifth phase of the ongoing general polls is underway in 49 constituencies across eight states and Union territories. Polling is taking place across 5 seats in Bihar, 3 seats in Jharkhand, 13 seats in Maharashtra, 5 seats in Odisha, 14 seats in Uttar Pradesh, 7 seats in West Bengal, and 1 seat each in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
