Sushmita Sen is one of the most bankable actors in the industry. She is first Indian woman to win the Miss Universe title in 1994. Sushmita made her Bollywood debut with Mahesh Bhatt’s ‘Dastak’ in 1996, and ever since she has won million hearts with her beauty and splendid acting skills.

Here are the five best performances by Sushmita Sen that left us impressed.


‘Aarya’ series

Sushmita Sen made her OTT debut with crime thriller ‘Aarya’ which is reportedly a remake of the Dutch series ‘Penoza’. Sushmita played the role of Aarya, a caring mother and a loving wife, in the series, who is unaware of her husband’s illegal business. After his death, she is entangled in a dark world of crime and she needs to protect herself and her kids.
The web series also featured Chandrachur Singh, Sikander Kher, Viren Vazirani, Vikas Kumar, Ankur Bhatia, and Namit Das among others.

The second season of ‘Aarya’ released in December 2021, and the third season of the show is expected to release soon.

Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya? (2005)
The comedy-drama starred Sushmita Sen, Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif and Sohail Khan. In the David Dhawan-directorial, she portrayed the role of Naina, a nurse who assisted orthopedic surgeon, Samir. The duo lie about being married to each other so Samir can keep the women off him. However, when he falls in love with Sonia, they fake a divorce, so that he can marry the girl he truly loves.

Main Hoon Na (2004)
The action-drama, directed by Farah Khan, starred Sushmita alongside Shah Rukh Khan, Zayed Khan, Suneil Shetty, and Amrita Rao. She played the role of Chandni, a chemistry teacher at a college where she falls in love with her student, played by Shah Rukh.

‘Aankhen’ (2002)
Sushmita portrayed the role of Neha Srivastav, a teacher who trains blind people. The film, directed by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, also starred Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Arjun Rampal and Paresh Rawal. The film was praised by the audience for its unique script and impeccable direction and acting. Adapted from the Gujarati play ‘Aandhlo Paato’, the film narrated the story of three visually impaired men who ransack a bank.

Biwi No. 1 (1999)
Directed by David Dhawan, the film starred Sushmita, Salman Khan and Karisma Kapoor. The former Miss Universe portrayed the role of a woman who starts an affair with a married man. The comedy drama had some cult classic dance numbers like ‘Chunri Chunri’, and ‘Ishq Sona Hai’.
