Movies you can watch this festive season - in theatres or on OTT

The festival of lights is round the corner and celebrations are on in full swing across the nation. Everyone is set to slip into their festive attires, offer prayers to God, and light diyas. While meeting friends and family is fun on Diwali, planning to a watch movie with them can add happiness to this day as well.

Here's a list of movies you can watch this festive season.
 
'Thank God'

The fantasy-comedy film stars Sidharth Malhotra, Ajay Devgn, and Rakul Preet Singh. The Indra Kumar directorial shows how an egoistic real estate broker, who is in huge debts, meets with an accident.

After gaining consciousness, he realizes that he is in heaven. Lord Chitragupt then appears in front of him and offers to play a ‘game of life’ with him. He is made to realize that he has been leading his life filled with anger, jealousy, delusion and lust.

The film is scheduled to release in theatres on October 25, 2022.

'Ram Setu'

Starring Akshay Kumar, Jacqueline Fernandez and Nushrratt Bharuccha, the film is about archaeologist Aryan Kulshrestha’s mission to discover and save Ram Setu in just three days. He must do so before the evil forces destroy the pillar of India's heritage. The Abhishek Sharma directorial will clash at the box office with ‘Thank God’.

'Doctor G'

The comedy drama, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rakul Preet Singh, shows the hilarious struggles of Dr. Uday Gupta, who aspired to specialise in Orthopaedic, but is forced to take an all-female class of Gynaecology. This film released in theatres on October 14 and has received a positive response from the audience as well as the critics.

'Brahmastra Part One: Shiva'

The fantasy action-adventure, written and directed by Ayan Mukerji, is inspired from stories in Hindu mythology. It film follows the journey of Shiva, an orphan, who discovers that he has the power to control fire and a connection to a secret society of guardians - Brahmastra. He attempts to prevent the strongest of all astras from falling into the hands of dark forces. The film will reportedly release on Disney+ Hotstar on October 23.

'Laal Singh Chaddha'

Directed by Advait Chandan, this comedy drama stars Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan in lead roles. This film is adapted from Oscar winning Hollywood film ‘Forrest Gump’ starring Tom Hanks. It narrates the extraordinary journey of a simple man with a disability. He meets many friends along the way as he achieves various milestones in life. The film is now streaming on Netflix.

'Kantara'

This action thriller, written and directed by Rishab Shetty, released in theatres on September and has been receiving amazing reviews. It stars Shetty as a Kambala champion, who clashes with Murali, an upright DRFO officer.
