National Youth Day 2022: Top 5 Bollywood films that struck a chord with the youth

Today is National Youth Day and on this occasion, we remember fantastic Bollywood films that have depicted some great stories and struck a chord with the youth of today. 

From showing college romance to the dreamy trip on which everybody wants to go with their friends, from dealing with peer pressure to believing in yourself and following your own path, filmmakers have delivered us some beautiful stories that were loved by the audience. 
 
Here’s a list of top 5 Bollywood movies you should watch today, because each one of them has a lesson for you:

1. Rang De Basanti 

'Rang De Basanti' broke all box office records upon opening in India, and instantly became a hit among critics as well. Rather than dealing with the personal struggles and pains of growing up, the film depicts the experience of young Indians coming to terms with corruption in modern day India. Aamir Khan, Soha Ali Khan, Kunal Kapoor and R. Madhavan gave some fantastic performances.The film won several awards and was also India's official entry to the 79th Academy Awards in the Best Foreign Film category

2. Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara 
ZNMD tells the story of three friends played by Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar and Abhay Deol, who go on a bachelor trip to Spain. Their fun trip turns slowly becomes a life altering trip and gives them an opportunity to mend fences, heal wounds, fall in love with life and combat their worst fears. A meditative take on growing up, becoming a man, taking responsibility for one's actions, it has the courage to go for long periods with no dialogue. This bromance film is definitely worth watching dobara.

3. Chhichhore  

The pressure of failure in this uber-competitive world is a common and deathly disease that many youths experience. Through a simple storyline and the relationship between a child and his parents, Chhichhore showcased the beauty of life and the needlessness of pressure. The film touches upon topics of suicide, peer and parental pressure as well as mental health and reinvigorates 'the will to live.'

4. Queen 

What would happen to you if you hit rock bottom in life? When you’re down, the only way to go is up, says ‘Queen’. From the fear of public embarrassment after her fiancé calls off their wedding, to the confidence of letting go of social trappings, Rani is every woman. She embodies millions of us. Women are shown enjoying themselves and painting the town red without needing the presence of a man. It makes its viewers believe that there are people out there you can trust and look up to for friendship and guidance.  

5. Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani 

We can’t remember the last Bollywood movie which struck a chord with youngsters as much as YJHD did. Some of us could see our friends in the movie, while some of us relived our own journeys. Helmed by Ayan Mukerji, the romantic comedy-drama stars Ranbir KapoorDeepika Padukone, Kalki Koechlin, and Aditya Roy Kapur.
