This year has been full of ups and downs for Bollywood with many big-ticket films tanking at the box office. There were two main reasons behind this - the OTT content which has been on a huge rise since the pandemic and boycott trends.
However, the upcoming year has some much-awaited, and much-hyped Bollywood films in store for us. Let’s take a look.
‘Pathaan’
The Sidharth Anand directorial will mark Shah Rukh Khan’s return to the big screen after a four-year hiatus. The film also features Deepika Padukone and John Abraham in pivotal roles. It is slated to have a theatrical release in multiple languages including Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu on January 25.
‘Tiger 3’
The third franchise of the 'Tiger' series will see Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif reprising their roles. The Maneesh Sharma directorial is part of the YRF spy universe consisting of action spy films by the banner. It is expected to release on Diwali in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’
Karan Johar is coming back to direction after a gap of 6 years with 'Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani'. The film stars Alia Bhatt, Ranveer Singh, Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, and Shabana Azmi in the lead role. It is scheduled to release on April 28.
‘Sam Bahadur’
The biographical drama stars Vicky Kaushal as Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw. He was the first Indian Army officer to be promoted to the rank of Field Marshal and played a crucial role in India’s victory in the 1971 Indo-Pak war which led to the creation of Bangladesh. Directed by Meghna Gulzar, the movie also stars Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra in key roles.
‘Adipurush’
The Indian epic mythological film is based on Ramayana. Written and directed by Om Raut, the film stars Prabhas as Raghava, Kriti Sanon as Janaki, and Saif Ali Khan as Lankesh. The magnum opus is slated to release in cinemas on June 16.
‘Jawan’
Shah Rukh Khan, Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi play the lead role in Atlee's action thriller. SRK will reportedly be playing a dual role in the movie that is slated to hit the theatres on June 2.
‘Dunki’
The Rajkumar Hirani movie stars Shah Rukh Khan alongside Taapsee Pannu. The film, which is scheduled for a December release, will highlight the rampant use of an illegal backdoor route called 'Donkey Flight' by Indians to immigrate to countries like Canada and the USA.
‘Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan’
The action comedy film, directed by Farhad Samji, stars Salman Khan, Venkatesh, Pooja Hegde, Shehnaaz Gill, and Jagapathi Babu. The core plot is based on the 2014 Tamil film ‘Veeram’. The movie will release in cinemas in April.
