Music maestro AR Rahman’s concert in Pune was stopped midway by the police on Sunday night after he continued to perform beyond the permissible time of 10 PM. The cops went on stage and asked the Oscar-winning singer to stop his performance and follow the deadline as per the SC guidelines otherwise legal action would be taken.

The event, which was attended by thousands of people, was organized at Raja Bahadur Mill area in Pune. Rahman was singing his last song and while singing he did not realise that it was already past 10 pm.

A video went viral on social media in which a police officer was seen walking on the stage and asking Rahman, other artists, and organisers to stop the music show.

No case has been registered in this connection, a senior police official said.

The incident has reportedly sparked criticism of the Pune Police's decision to allow the event to take place in an area designated as a silent zone due to the presence of many hospitals in the vicinity. It also caused a huge traffic jam, inconveniencing many people.
