‘Raksha Bandhan’ (2022)

This film’s release coincides with Raksha Bandhan. Starring Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar,  the comedy-drama revolves around a brother who wishes to get his four sisters married before tying the knot with his childhood love. It highlights the unbreakable bond between the siblings and addresses the issue of dowry.

Sarbjit (2016) 

Directed by Omung Kumar, the biographical drama is based on the life of farmer Sarbjit, residing at Bhikiwind, Punjab, near the Indo-Pak border. Randeep Hooda played the titular role. Sarbjit was mistaken to be an Indian spy and was sentenced to capital punishment by the Pakistani Government. His sister, played by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, fought for her brother’s release.

Bumm Bumm Bole (2010) 

The film, directed by Priyadarshan, features Darsheel Safary, Atul Kulkarni, Rituparna Sengupta, and Ziyah Vastani. It details the story of two siblings who decide to share a pair of shoes till their father can afford to purchase another. However, things are uncertain as their father is suspected of criminal offenses and unable to find a job.
